In The Community

Patton Law Practice is a proud member of the community and is dedicated to improving Scottsdale. Many of the firm's members assume leadership roles and commit their time and energy to important community organizations and charitable projects.

Our strong relationship with our neighbors is highlighted by the following efforts:

  • Acting on behalf of neighbors who were concerned about traffic congestion and speeding vehicles, Patton Law Practice helped have the speed limit reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph.  We brought the citizens’ rights to preserve and protect their neighborhood to the forefront.  We also actively lobbied for installation of speed circles and landscape buffers to alleviate traffic congestion in our neighborhood.
  • When the town of Paradise Valley prosecuted a political action committee, our freedom of expression argument resulted in the $2,000 fine being reduced to $20. We also were instrumental in making sure that campaign/election legislation was redrafted to take into account the freedom of expression.
  • We interceded pro bono on behalf of nursing staff who were subjected to verbally abusive physicians, supporting employees' rights to work in a non-hostile environment. The hospital reprimanded the offending physicians and notified the nurses regarding corrective actions that they had taken.
  • After several nurses at a major hospital complained that physicians were using mobile phones during surgery, our firm, acting pro bono, gathered staff signatures supporting a policy prohibiting such phone use during surgery. The hospital then enacted the policy.
  • When community members were outraged by physicians' use of mobile phones and pagers during surgery, we fought for patients' rights and brought this issue to the local hospital's attention. After the local newspaper became involved, the hospital developed a strict policy regarding the use of mobile phones by medical staff.
  • Through this enduring sense of community our attorneys and staff can contribute more than just legal expertise. We can help make our community a better place.
